An Exploration in Representation of Architecture
Photography + Art Direction
People affect spaces, and spaces affect people. This simple, cliche belief was the starting point of the project. Can the representations of architecture echo that intent? Usually in commercial spatial photography, people take on a programmatic role, that is, they are executing a performance based on the intended purpose of the space. Inspired by Livia Corona's photography of space, specifically of the Sale House by Johnston Marklee Architects, PPLACE is an attempt to connect people to place, not just by programme, but also by culture, aesthetics, and narrative, through the representation of architecture in architecture photography.
Situated in Singapore, it was also an exercise to understand and know better the exceptional spaces that exist in where we live, alongside the stories that have grown within them.
